Police removes Rahul, Priyanka, other Congress leaders from dharna site near PM Modi's residence
Trinamool Congress (TMC) leaders Yusuf Pathan and Lalitesh Tripathi will participate in the concluding phase of the ‘Voter Rights Yatra’ in Bihar on September 1. The yatra was launched by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on August 17 and will conclude in Patna with a large procession. TMC sources confirmed that the party decided to send Pathan and Tripathi to represent TMC at the final rally. Both Congress and TMC are constituents of the national opposition alliance, INDI.
Addressing a gathering in Siwan on Friday, Rahul Gandhi alleged that the Modi-led central government was “caught stealing votes with the help of the Election Commission,” leading to growing unease among BJP leaders. Opposition parties have raised concerns over the removal of 6.5 million names from the voter lists, terming it a direct attack on people’s voting rights.
Following a Supreme Court order, the Election Commission published the list of removed names by August 19 and submitted the compliance report by August 22. The participation of TMC leaders in the final rally highlights the coordination among opposition parties in Bihar ahead of upcoming elections and their focus on voter awareness and rights.
